In 2027, Intereuropa Global Logistics Service will mark a milestone that few companies in the region can claim: eight decades of uninterrupted operations, growth and transformation. What began in 1947 as a modest limited liability company with just three employees and a single old tractor in what was then Zone B of the Free Territory of Trieste, has grown into one of the most recognisable and trusted logistics groups in South-Eastern Europe.

The story of Intereuropa is, in many ways, the story of the region itself. Founded in the aftermath of World War II at a time when borders were still being drawn and economies were rebuilding from scratch, the company quietly established itself as a vital link between the Adriatic coast and the broader European market. From the very beginning, the key competitive advantage was location Koper, Slovenia's only commercial port, positioned at the crossroads of Central Europe, the Balkans and the Mediterranean, would prove to be one of the most strategic logistics gateways on the continent.

Through the 1950s and 1960s, Intereuropa steadily expanded its reach, adding new services, new routes and new people. The period between 1965 and 1990 marked the fastest phase of growth, as the company opened branches in all major cities across the former Yugoslavia, building what would eventually become the backbone of its regional network. Whether it was organising road transport for ordinary cargo or loading the first overseas shipments onto ships bound for distant ports, Intereuropa was always moving forward.

The political and economic upheaval of the early 1990s brought significant change. Following the break-up of Yugoslavia in 1991, the company reorganised its branches outside Slovenia into independent limited liability companies, laying the groundwork for what would become a truly international group. Privatisation followed in 1995, and in 1998 Intereuropa's shares were listed on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, a testament to the confidence the market placed in the company's vision and stability.

The late 1990s and the 2000s saw renewed expansion across South-Eastern Europe, as Intereuropa integrated former branches and acquired new companies across Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania and Ukraine.

What had once been a single company with one vehicle had become a Group operating in 9 countries through 12 related companies, with over 70 locations, 1,400 employees, more than 250,000 square metres of logistics terminals and annual net sales revenues exceeding 200 million EUR.

Today, Intereuropa is part of the Pošta Slovenije Group and remains the leading supplier of complete logistics services in Slovenia and South-Eastern Europe. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio spanning road freight, intercontinental transport by sea, air and rail, automotive logistics, customs clearance, warehousing, distribution and supply chain management, as well as fair and exhibition logistics. Its AEO certification, ISO 9001:2015 quality standards, and memberships in FIATA, IATA, WCA, BIMCO and other international organisations speak to a consistent commitment to quality and professionalism that has been built over eight decades.

As Intereuropa looks towards its 80th anniversary in 2027, the company carries with it not only the weight of its history but also the energy of transformation, embracing digitisation, EDI integration, sustainability and new logistics solutions to meet the demands of a rapidly changing global supply chain landscape.

From three employees and one tractor to a regional logistics leader trusted by clients including Porsche, Toyota, Bosch, Siemens, Ferrero and many others the journey of Intereuropa is a story of resilience, vision and an enduring commitment to getting things where they need to go.
