transport logistic China
– 8 to 10 June 2010 in Shanghai
Interview with Eugen Egetenmeir, Managing Director of Messe München What is
transport logistic China 2010 offering in Shanghai? Egetenmeir: "transport logistic China is already taking place this
year for the fourth time in intervals of two years at the Shanghai New
International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from 8 to 10 June 2010. In the meantime, it
has developed into the most important platform for transport and logistics in
Asia. At the last trade fair in 2008, it recorded 431 exhibitors and more than
11,000 trade visitors. The trade fair and Air Cargo China integrated into it,
an exhibition of the worldwide airfreight industry, provide a
business platform for local and international companies. It promotes both
networking of Asian participants with one another as well as initiation of
contacts with international global players.
“transport logistic China is also benefiting from the world fair Expo
2010, which is taking place at the same time. Numerous synergies with respect
to the subject and motto of the world fair "Better City, Better Life"
will result. After all, what would such a giant exhibition be without
sophisticated logistics?"
What are the interests of Messe
München in China? Egetenmeir: „China is
an important trade fair site for Messe München.
In addition to two other trade fair organisers, we have a participatory share
in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. We also have a Chinese
subsidiary, MMI Shanghai, which implements trade fairs in China. We have
exported a number of international trade fairs to China with a great deal of
success since the operation start-up of SNIEC in 2001. In addition to transport
logistic China, we have other trade fairs there this year, for example, IFAT
CHINA + EPTEE + CWS, a trade fair for environmental technology, which we are
holding for the first time this year as a joint venture with Shanghai ZM
International Exhibition. A highlight is bauma China,
which has become the largest and most important trade fair for construction
machinery in Asia. It will be staged in Shanghai this year in
November"
What target groups do you address with
transport logistic China? Egetenmeir:
"transport logistic China is the trade fair in Asia, which sets the
complete logistics value-added chain in motion: As exhibitors services of
freight transport and logistics, like in particular harbours, container lines,
shippers, airports and air cargo providers, will participate. They include
companies from the IT, warehouse management und telematics section. As visitors
we also expect representatives from logistics, shipping, trade sector and
research facilities. transport logistic China
is not only the platform for the largest industry get-together in the Far East, but it also provides a forum for networking
industry and trade with the transport and logistics industries – and it does
this across national borders."
A lot of trade fairs are having difficulties
due to the economic crisis. Are you feeling the effects of the crisis? Egetenmeir:
"Of course, the global economic situation has resulted in a decrease of
worldwide freight traffic. And this affects our customers. However, the
experience of transport logistic, which last took place in Munich in 2009, has
shown us that many deal with forced saving creatively and look for partners,
with whom they can exhibit jointly. As a result, transport logistic in Munich recorded an
exhibitor and area record even in this year of recession. We are also
organising many joint exhibit stands in China, above all in the international
sphere. We expect joint participations again from Germany, Belgium, France,
Italy, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Russia."
Which topics will dominate transport
logistic China 2010? Egetenmeir:
"We are developing a conference program in collaboration with numerous
professional organisations from China and Europe, which puts the main topics of
the industry on the agenda. There will again be a symposium about the topic
area of air cargo titled 'Tomorrow’s World', accompanying the exhibition of the
same name about airfreight, airports and associated service suppliers. Costs
and energy efficiency also play a role in the conference program. Consequently,
Supply Chain Asia is holding a Green Logistics Workshop. The German Logistics
Association is inviting people to its "Logistics Excellence in China"
conference, and Dars Consulting from Russia
is holding the "Silk Road" conference dealing with the awaking significance
of the old trade routes of the world from Europe to Asia.
With these things, the trade is providing an exciting program supplementing the
exhibitions in the halls."
