The industry’s key players meet at transport logistic China 2004
- Extensive related-events program focuses on opportunities and challenges associated with transportation and logistics market in China
- Panel discussions and lectures to feature international and Chinese participants
transport logistic China 2004, the trade fair for logistics, telematics and transportation, will feature an extensive related-events program with information on the latest issues and questions pertaining to the transport and logistics market in China. The exhibition is being held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai Pudong from May 11 –14, 2004. According to Detlev R. Gantenberg, Managing Director at Munich International Trade Fairs, “transport logistic China gives international and Chinese decision-makers an ideal business-to-business platform for getting involved in the Chinese market and improving existing business relationships. We are looking forward to a successful premiere event in China and are expecting key industry players from China and abroad”.
The related-events program at transport logistic China 2004 consists of three conferences that are being held on three days of the fair. On May 11 and 12, 2004, China Logistic and Purchasing Magazine (CLPM) will hold the “Forum of Chinese Logistic Entrepreneurs”.
Air Cargo China 2004, a specialty exhibition integrated into transport logistic China 2004, will analyze the latest topics of interest to the Chinese and international air-cargo industry in a separate forum on May 12, 2004. Peter Sedgley, Vice President Cargo Commercial Operations, Emirates Sky Cargo and Stephan Poirer, Chairman Airports Council International World Cargo Sub Committee will act as chairmen. J.J. Ong, Senior General Manager Cargo, Malaysia Airlines, Franz Josef Miller, CEO of time:matters, the express division of Lufthansa, Michael D. Navin, Global Programme Director of BT Syntegra, Wolfgang Schmid, Regional Director Sales of EADS/EFW confirmed that they will be participating as speakers.
Together with IMAG (International Exhibition and Fair Service Ltd.) and MMI (Munich Trade Fairs International Group), BVL (Bundesvereinigung Logistik, the largest logistics organization in Germany) is organizing the forum titled “Logistics Management in China – Current Challenges and Future Perspectives” on May 12 and 13, 2004. Experts on the international industry such as Prof. Dr. Peer Witten, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BVL, Dr. Frank Straube, Director of the Kühne Institute for Logistics at St. Gallen University and Prof. Dr. Pfohl, Member of the Board and Head of Research & Development Committee of the European Logistics Association (ELA) in Frankfurt/Main, will participate in the event. According to Dr. Thomas Wimmer, Managing Director of BVL, “The related-events program will help to build bridges between Asia and Europe. The latest issues in the logistics sector in China and actual examples of successful collaboration projects will give trade-fair participants genuine added value."
Chinese panel members will include Li Xiong, General Manager of the logistics department at the Chinese postal authority, Ma Liqiang, Director of the Center for Research and Development, Chinese State Council and Li Xuanmin, Chairman of the Board at Shenzhen Yantian Port Holdings Co., Ltd.
Following introductory events on the morning of May 12, 2004, which will primarily deal with general economic conditions in China, there will be two simultaneous sessions (sessions one and two) in the afternoon dealing with the demands placed on logistics service providers in China and the development of new strategies to optimize the Chinese logistics market: “Developing Logistic Strategies for the Chinese Market”, “Optimization of Supply Chains and Networks” and “Integration of Local Suppliers into the Supply Network” are just some of the highlights on this day of the conference.
Events on May 13, 2004, the third day of the fair, will focus on the challenges facing logistics project management in China and trends on the international and Chinese logistics markets. In sessions three and four in the morning, topics of discussion will include “Multinational Sea Port and Terminal Logistics”, “Challenges for a Company of the Machine Building Sector” and “Trends in International Procurement – A Comparison between Asia and Europe”. Outdoor sessions that afternoon will examine actual projects such as the Shanghai Harbour Cruise, the Sinotrans Logistic Centre and the Shanghai Transrapid.
“The number of registrations received to date as well as the attractive related-events program at transport logistic china 2004 and the integrated Air Cargo China 2004 make this event an absolute must for the international and Chinese logistics community,” explains Detlev R. Gantenberg.
